The Maryland Food Bank needs our help! Their shelves are empty!!! Donated products at the Maryland Food Bank are at an all time low, only 50% of their normal donations. Soup kitchens, food pantries and emergency shelters are not getting the food that they need to feed the hungry in Maryland. These are hungry people like children, hard working adults and seniors living on a fixed income.
We are looking for large empty boxes, volunteers to be contact points to run the drives in their offices, volunteers to make pickups and drop offs to the Food Bank, and donation items! The food bank needs MORE than canned items, but also peanut butter, nuts/seeds, dried beans, oatmeal, breakfast cereal, rice and rice cakes, all pasta, evaporated milk, powdered milk, infant formula, puddings, diapers, toilet paper, plastic/paper plates and cups, salad dressings, soups and unused health and beauty items. Clear out those pantries, help someone in need!
If you can help out with getting boxes, holding the drive, picking up and dropping off to the food bank in Baltimore, contact Linda Nguyen at info@lindasellsbaltimore.com or 240.988.1626.

BJAC is volunteering on Saturday, October 11th at 10:30am at Garden Harvest in Reisterstown. Garden Harvest donates all of their crops to local shelters and food banks, and they need help picking pears on Saturday!
Garden Harvest, Inc. is a not-for-profit farm run by full time volunteers, assisted by seasonal staff & apprentices, and supported by over 5000 enthusiastic volunteers each season.
Their mission is the alleviation of hunger & the improvement of nutrition of economically disadvantaged citizens worldwide. We accomplish this by the establishment of community farms that teach people of all ages & any ethnic background methods of organic, sustainable production of fruit, vegetables, eggs, & wool , and in the near future milk & cheese, so they can learn how to grow food for themselves & for others, and in ways that regenerate the Earth's precious soil. All crops produced at Garden Harvest farms are given to the poor.

Preparing Dinner at the John's Hopkins Children's House
The Children's House at Johns Hopkins is part of the hospital housing program of the Believe In Tomorrow National Children's Foundation. This facility offers affordable housing for families of pediatric patients
who visit the Johns Hopkins Children's Center. It is our purpose to keep families together in the midst of medical crisis, to reduce stress and promote self help and mutual support. Young people who receive medical treatment away from home need the emotional support of their families, and those families need a "home-away-from-home," where they can restore their own physical and emotional energies. Come out and help prepare Thanksgiving dinner for the adults and children staying at the Hopkins Children's House
